About

My name is Chris Dunn and I live in Bloomington, Indiana with my beautiful wife and two daughters.  I have been crafting software for the past twenty-two years as both a passion and profession.  My love of programming started early in High School, reading books and hacking code in C, PASCAL and BASIC.  My career began shortly after convincing a local software company to hire me as a part-time developer my senior year.  The owner of the company handed me a book on VISUAL BASIC on Thursday, and told me to be ready to code on Monday.  

I focused the first ten years of my career on Microsoft Windows desktop development, migrating into client/server applications and database development with MS SQL and Oracle.  The last twelve years I have specialized in full stack web development utilizing C# on the .net framework, HTML, JavaScript and SQL Server.   Most recently my attention has been drawn to .net core and cross-platform development and cloud computing and deployment.

Over the past twenty-two years I have worked as both a consultant and permanent team member for companies in the areas of  Insurance, Manufacturing, Higher Education and Finance.  Since the early days in my career I began fulfilling the role of Technical Lead when serving as a full time employee.  I have worked with small businesses, startups and fortune 500 companies.

For the past year I have been actively blogging (which you can read here) about C#, .net core, programming and general topics that interest me.  I try to place some of my more productive personal projects and code on my GitHub account.

When I am not programming, I enjoy spending time with my family and sailing our 24ft Beneteau on beautiful Lake Monroe.
